The wonderful Ada Dyer, Amy Helm, Catherine Russell and Joan Osborne have added their beautiful harmonies to Sherman Holmes’ album project. The album, that also features the Blind Boys of Alabama, is now ready to be mixed. Thanks ladies for your soulful performances!
Andreas Werner put together a 75 minute compilation of Muscle Shoals themed videos from the Crazy Chester Records archives. The segment will stream at 6:05 PM CST at islandmusicfest.com and will be archived there afterwards. The video features performances by the Muscle Shoals Allstars, Tommy Talton, The Decoys, Donnie Fritts, Scott Boyer and many others.
Today, the Muscle Shoals Horns laid down tracks for upcoming projects by Sherman Holmes of the Holmes Brothers and Mark Narmore & Funky Chester.
We had the pleasure to work with blues master Doug MacLeod for two days at Creative Workshop. Joe Funderburk was engineering and Andreas Werner produced the sessions.
Mickey Buckins will be honored by the Alabama Music Hall of Fame with a bronze star. Mickey’s one of the key players of the Muscle Shoals sound and he’s left a remarkable legacy as a songwriter, musician, engineer and producer. The ceremony will take place on June 26 at 2 PM. Andreas Werner was asked to speak at the event.
We are proud to reissue The Decoys’ 1992 Live At Union Station album. It was originally released on cassette only and only sold off the bandstand. The reissue was remastered from the original master tapes and features four previously unreleased bonus tracks. The CD will be available in the fall.
Funky Chester’s new album Fallstreak Hole Grooves will be out this fall! The record consists of ten instrumentals that explore the intersection of jazz and rhythm & blues. Funky Chester is Lynn Williams, Paul Ossola, Harvey Thompson Jr. and Andreas Werner joind by Steve Herrman, Doug Moffet and Charles Rose of the Muscle Shoals Horns.
Mark Narmore spent the last couple days at Creative Workshop with the Funky Chester Rhythm Section, recording tracks for his upcoming album, the songs for which were written during the pandemic by Mark and Andreas Werner.
Andreas Werner had a great time participating in two virtual panels by the British Columbia Touring Council with our friend Doug Cox.
